Facebook has announced the closure of its Live Shopping feature from October 1.
Users will no longer be able to create product playlists or tag products in their Facebook Live videos.

New Delhi. Facebook has announced the closure of its Live Shopping feature from October 1. The company will now focus on short-form video platform Reels on its main app and Instagram. While users will be able to use Facebook Live to broadcast live events, they will not be able to product playlists or tag products in their Facebook Live videos.

The company announced through a blog post that users will no longer be able to create product playlists or tag products in their Facebook Live videos. Now you must be thinking that why did the company take this decision? Actually, the company wants to focus more on reels and hence it is discontinuing the live shopping event feature.

Facebook’s advice to users
Facebook further said that since people are turning towards short-form videos. That’s why we’re turning our attention to Meta’s short-form video product, Reels on Facebook and Instagram. If you want to reach and connect with people through video, try experimenting with reels and reels ad on Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook has said that those who have a checkout shop and want to host a live shopping event on Instagram can set up Live Shopping on Instagram. The company said that if you want to preserve an earlier live video, you can download your video to your Page or Creator Studio.

The first rollout took place in Thailand
Let us know that the live feature was first rolled out in Thailand in 2018. Years later, it was publicly introduced to more users in 2020. This feature was intended to provide an interactive tool for creators and brands to sell items while engaging with audiences and acquiring new potential customers.
