Kolkata: In West Bengal, where the Enforcement Directorate was tightening its noose on TMC leaders, now the CBI has also entered the state. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday summoned Trinamool Congress’s Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal in connection with the investigation into the animal smuggling case. An official gave this information.

He said that Mandal has been asked to appear before the investigating officers at 11 am on Monday. “We have called him for questioning on Monday morning in the animal smuggling case. We need answers to some questions from him.

Mandal has already been questioned twice by the central agency. The CBI has arrested Mandal’s bodyguard Saigal Hussain after he allegedly failed to give any satisfactory explanation as to how he amassed huge amount of wealth despite having a fixed monthly salary.

In the animal smuggling case, the agency had raided 13 different places in Birbhum district of West Bengal on Wednesday. In the raid on Wednesday, the residence of Mandal’s associate and stone trader Tulu Mandal was also raided.
