This information has been given in the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). According to the report, the conviction rate of the accused was very low during this period and only 95 convicts were sentenced. During this 6,275 cases were investigated. According to the report, out of the cases investigated in 2021, 2,329 cases were pending since 2020 and nine cases were re-investigated.

According to the report, there has been an increase in crime against women between 2019 and 2021. The maximum number of 3,937 cases of crime against him were reported in 2021 while 3,405 in 2020 and 3,069 in 2019. According to the 2011 census, there are 64 lakh women in Jammu and Kashmir and the crime rate against them is 61.6 per lakh female population, the report said. According to the report, 315 cases of rape, 1,414 of attempt to rape and 14 cases of dowry death were registered in 2021. In rape cases, 91.4 per cent of the accused were known to the victim.

According to the NCRB report, 1,851 cases of molestation of women were also registered. 14 cases of molestation were from shelter homes of women and children. At the same time, five cases of custodial rape were registered.
