Ahmedabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of several development projects in Bhuj on the second day of his Gujarat visit today. During this, he will inaugurate the Smriti Van Memorial in memory of those killed in the devastating 2001 earthquake in Bhuj. This memorial has been built in the memory of about 13,000 people who lost their lives during the 2001 earthquake. The names of these 13000 people are written in this forest. While going to Bhuj Smriti Van, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also do a road show of about 3 km. Apart from this, PM Modi will also inaugurate various projects worth Rs 4400 crore today. Significantly, at the end of the year, assembly elections are going to be held in Gujarat.

Bhuj Smriti Van has been built in 470 acres. The names of 13 thousand people have been written in it. Bhuj was the epicenter of the catastrophic earthquake in Gujarat in 2001. A state-of-the-art Smriti Van Earthquake Museum has also been built in Bhuj Smriti Memorial. This museum displays the topography of Gujarat after the 2001 earthquake, the reconstruction initiatives and the success stories of Gujarat after the earthquake. Apart from this, informs about different types of disasters and future preparedness for these disasters. In Smriti Van Memorial, a block has been made to relive the earthquake experience with the help of a 5D simulator. Apart from this, another block has also been made to pay tribute to those killed in the earthquake.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth about Rs 4400 crore in Bhuj. He will inaugurate the Kutch branch canal of Sardar Sarovar Project. This canal will help in providing irrigation facility and drinking water to 948 villages and ten towns of Kutch district. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate several other projects including Sarhad Dairy’s new automatic milk processing and packing plant, Regional Science Centre, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Convention Center at Gandhidham, Veer Bal Smarak at Anjar, 2 substations at Nakhtarana etc. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for different projects worth over Rs 1500 crore, including the Bhuj-Bhimasar road.

In the evening, the Prime Minister will address a program at Mahatma Mandir Convention Center in Gandhinagar to commemorate 40 years of Suzuki in India. He will also lay the foundation stone of the battery manufacturing center of Suzuki Motor Gujarat Electric Vehicle at Hansalpur in Gujarat there. From here he will lay the foundation stone for Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming manufacturing facility in Khorkhoda, Haryana.
