Crop diversification and implementation of National Education Policy will be discussed

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog on August 7. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in an official statement issued on Friday that various issues including crop diversification and implementation of the National Education Policy will be discussed during the meeting. This will be the first meeting of the Governing Council after a one-on-one meeting after July 2019. The members of the council include all the chief ministers. The Prime Minister is the chairman of NITI Aayog.

The PMO said that the country is celebrating 75 years of its independence and in such a situation there is a need for the states to move towards ‘Self-reliant India’ in the spirit of cooperative federalism. “Towards building a stable, sustainable and inclusive India, the 7th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog will be held on August 7 and will mark a new era of cooperation and cooperation between the Center and the States/UTs,” the statement said. Will pave the way for synergy in the direction. The agenda of this meeting, to be held at the cultural center of Rashtrapati Bhavan, includes crop diversification, achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds, pulses and agro-communities, implementation of the National Education Policy and urban governance.

The Governing Council consists of Chief Minister, Lieutenant Governor of Union Territories and Union Ministers.

The statement said that the meeting will also emphasize on the role of states in underlining progress on the G20 forum. The Governing Council, the apex body of NITI Aayog, includes all Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories and several Union Ministers. The National Conference of Chief Secretaries was organized in Dharamsala in June 2022 as part of the preparations for the meeting, the statement said. The conference was presided over by the Prime Minister and was attended by the Chief Secretaries of all the States and Union Territories as well as senior officers of the Central and State Governments. Usually the full council meets every year. This meeting was held under the chairmanship of Modi on February 20 last year. The council meeting was not convened in 2020 due to the corona virus epidemic.
