Panic around the world about monkeypox
Fear and anxiety among air travelers due to monkeypox infection
Vigilance is necessary regarding infection, mask is also effective

New Delhi. If you are worried about your air travel due to the panic of monkeypox, then know that even if a hitchhiker is infected, it can be avoided. In fact, people are worried about air travel after the death of a 22-year-old man who returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Kerala. At the same time, this incident also increased the level of panic in the country regarding monkeypox. The youth, who returned to Kerala, did not report to any health center for five days and died on July 30 due to encephalitis (inflammation of the brain).

Troubled by this incident, the central government asked the authorities in the UAE, how was this young man allowed to fly despite testing positive for the viral infection? Monkeypox patients are being found all over the world. Are you at risk of the virus if you are on a plane with a passenger infected with monkeypox?

Stay away from people infected with monkeypox

According to experts, it is not likely. They believe that the infection spreads mainly through skin-to-skin, mouth-to-mouth or sexual contact with someone who has a monkeypox rash. The infection can also be spread through direct contact with wounds or fluids, or indirect contact with contaminated materials such as linens. Also large respiratory droplets can be a mode of transmission. The virus can also be transmitted due to prolonged and close contact with an infected person. But if you keep wearing a mask according to the Kovid-19 protocol, then you can avoid monkeypox.

Most infections in men, very few women and children

According to experts, its infection has been seen in men who have sex with men (MSM). It is believed to be the most effective method of infection. According to Andy Seeley, consultant for sexually transmitted infections at the World Health Organization (WHO), ‘We are seeing cases that are largely focused on men. And when we look at those cases, we find that there are actually more men who have sex with men. Few cases have been reported in women and children, but these are very limited.

When should you see a doctor?

If you or your surroundings have any unexplained chickenpox such as rash, fever, headache, body aches, deep weakness or swollen lymph nodes, you should see a doctor without delay. If you have done international travel in the last 21 days, then there may be a risk of monkeypox. In this case vigilance is necessary.

Can a vaccine help?
Right now the risk of death from monkeypox is extremely low. It is less than 1 percent. No need to panic about monkeypox. This infection is cured by treatment in home isolation.
