New Delhi. A day after five MLAs of the Janata Dal (United) merged with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Manipur, party leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday said the state of Manipur has become JD(U) free. Along with this, he expressed confidence that the BJP will soon break the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ of Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress in Bihar.
Sushil Modi said, “The state has become JDU-free with the joining of five JDU MLAs in Manipur. Those MLAs wanted to remain in the NDA. Very soon, we will break the JDU-RJD alliance in Bihar and make the state JDU-free. The BJP MP further said that no one can become Prime Minister by putting up hoardings and posters.
Significantly, five MLAs of the Janata Dal United (JDU) in Manipur on Friday joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A statement issued by Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretary K Meghjit Singh said the Speaker expressed his happiness in accepting the merger of five JD(U) MLAs with the BJP under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution. JD(U) had fielded candidates on 38 seats in the assembly elections in March this year, out of which six won.
The JD(U) legislators who joined the BJP include KH Joykishan, N Sanate, Mohammad Achhabuddin, former Director General of Police AM Khoute and Thangjam Arunkumar. Khaute and Arunkumar had demanded ticket from BJP in the assembly elections, but after not getting success, both had joined JDU.
