New Delhi. Chairman Rishad Premji’s troubles are increasing after Wipro company fired 300 people for doing two jobs simultaneously. On one hand, while his decision was justified on social media, some people called his decision wrong. According to the report of New Indian Express, Hate mails are allegedly coming to Rishad Premji, Chairman of Wipro. However, he confirmed that he stands by his word. Rishad Premji had revealed on Wednesday that Wipro has found 300 employees working with a rival organization, who have decided to be fired. Speaking at the National Management Conference of All India Management Association, Premji said that the reality is that today there are people who are working for Wipro and working directly for one of its competitors. The agency quoted Premji as saying that as part of transparency, people can openly talk about working on a project over the weekend.

The Wipro chairman was reportedly the first to talk about Moonlight (working for two companies simultaneously) in the tech industry. On the other hand, Infosys recently sent an email to its employees, stating that double employment is not allowed and violation of this can result in job loss. IT companies are in fact concerned that workers moving to other jobs after regular working hours will affect the ‘productivity’ of work and may lead to conflicts and data breaches.

The Wipro chief has been a strong critic of Moonlighting since its inception and has even compared it with the company as a ‘fraud’. He said on Twitter last month, “There is a lot of talk about moonlighting employees in IT companies. This is directly and clearly a betrayal of the company.” A new debate has started in the industry after Wipro chairman’s recent remarks on moonlighting. Information technology (IT) company Infosys has warned of disciplinary action to employees working in the company along with other jobs. (from input language)
