State Water Resources Minister Sanjay Jha told that this rubber dam based on modern technology has been named ‘Gaya Ji Dam’. With its construction, at least two feet of water will be available throughout the year in Phalgu near the famous Vishnupad temple. Apart from this, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will also inaugurate a 411 meter long foot steel bridge on the Falgu river for traffic between Vishnupad temple to Sitakund, ghats on both the banks of Phalgu and the footpath to go from the bridge to Sitakund etc. He said that in place of the traditional concrete dam, for the first time in Bihar, a rubber dam based on modern technology has been constructed. It will not have any adverse effect on the environment.

Regarding the features of the country’s largest dam built in Gaya, Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department Ashwini Kumar said that due to the construction of this dam, water will be available throughout the year in Mokshadayini Falgu river near Vishnupad temple. There will be no shortage of water for the devotees coming here from the country and abroad for bathing, tarpan and pind daan in the Falgu river.

Know the specialty of rubber dam

Describing the specialty of the rubber dam, Prakash Reddy of Hydro Construction said that this dam is very special in itself. Under the scheme, a 411 meter long, 3 meter high rubber dam has been constructed on the left bank of the river Falgu in the 300 meters low flow of the temple. In this, water harvesting has been done by stopping the surface and sub-surface water flow of Falgu river and borewells have been installed for timely replacement of stagnant water.

seepage prevention system

To check the seepage of river water, modern technology sheet pile of 1,031 m length and 300 m of diaphragm wall has been constructed below the axis of the rubber dam and up to the rock level below the river bed near the right-left bank. has been constructed. Such construction will ensure storage of river water and seepage will be very less.

312 crore cost

This dam has been constructed at a cost of Rs 312 crore. Now there will be water in the Falgu river for 365 days. Those who come from all over the country to do Pind Daan of their ancestors, they will not have to face any problems now. Along with the inauguration of the dam, Nitish Kumar will also inaugurate the bridge to go to Sitakund. During this, Pitrupaksha Mela-2022 will also be inaugurated near Vishnupad temple. Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav will attend the program as a special guest.
