Nagpur. Chief Justice of India (CJI) Uday Umesh Lalit on Saturday recollected the days he spent in Maharashtra’s Nagpur city at the beginning of his career as a lawyer and got emotional. Tears welled up from his eyes. In his address at the felicitation function organized by the High Court Bar Association, he promised to do everything to the best of his knowledge and ability during his tenure as CJI.

He said that while speaking in Nagpur, he was reminded of the old days, when he started his journey of legal profession. The CJI referred to a poem by Rudyard Kipling, which said that life is a journey. He became emotional during this and during the speech, for a few moments, he controlled the emotions coming out of his eyes through tears. He wiped away tears and apologized for not being able to control his emotions. “I have only one promise to make… I will do everything to the best of my knowledge and ability,” he said.
