Pithoragarh. The district administration is now going to take strict steps to stop minor marriages, if there is a case of minor marriage anywhere in the district, then action will also be taken against the Anganwadi workers and Child Development Project Officer of that area. Along with this, people with baraati, pandit and band baja will have to go to jail. In fact, there have been frequent cases of child marriage in Pithoragarh district, in view of which the administration has taken a strict stand.

To prevent child marriage, Anganwadi workers have to keep special vigil in their area. If the case of child marriage comes to the fore, then they may also have to lose their jobs. Anywhere such case will have to be immediately reported to the SDM and the police station, so that child marriage can be stopped in time. This rule has come into force after an order from District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan. The DM said that this decision has been taken with the aim of completely stopping the practice of child marriage.

On behalf of the Pithoragarh district administration, these instructions have been issued to the Child Development Department, in which the Child Development Project Officer has been directed to immediately inform the SDM Police Station if the matter of child marriage comes to the fore, so that the said marriage can be stopped.

In fact, in Toli village of Pithoragarh, the case of child marriage came to light only last month, which was stopped by the administration team. Even a month ago, the issue of marrying a minor twice was also in the news. At the same time, Sanjay Gaurav, the Child Development Officer of the district has spoken of a complete ban on such cases.
