In the survey conducted in 19 metros, Delhi has ranked first in the statistics of crimes against women.

New Delhi. A report about Delhi surprised everyone. Delhi with the glare of development, modernity and newness has been declared the most unsafe for women. Two minor girls were raped every day last year in the national capital, the most unsafe for women across the country, according to a new report by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The data shows that 13,892 cases of crime against women were registered in Delhi in 2021, a significant increase of over 40 per cent over 2020. In the year 2020, this figure was 9,782. According to NCRB data, cases of crime against women in Delhi account for 32.20 per cent of the total crimes in all the 19 metros category. After Delhi, the financial capital was Mumbai, where 5,543 such cases were reported and Bengaluru had 3,127 cases. Mumbai and Bengaluru account for 12.76 per cent and 7.2 per cent of the total crime cases in 19 cities, respectively.
In 2021, 3948 kidnappings, 4,674 cases of cruelty by husbands and 833 cases of rape of minors were registered in the national capital as compared to other metropolitan cities with a population of over two million. The data shows that in 2021, an average of two girls were raped every day in Delhi.
According to the report, 13,982 cases of crime against women were registered in the national capital in 2021, while all the 19 metros accounted for 43,414 cases of crime. 136 cases of dowry deaths have been registered in the capital in 2021, which is 36.26 percent of the total deaths in 19 metros. The NCRB said that in the case of girl child, 1,357 cases were registered in 2021 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO). According to the data, 833 cases of rape of girls were registered in 2021, which is the highest in metropolitan cities.
