Nainital. These days ‘NH Pandey Independence Day Children’s Football’ tournament has been organized at the historic DSA ground located in Mallital of Uttarakhand’s tourism city. Teams from 12 schools are participating in this tournament. The special thing related to this tournament is that its first final was played in this ground on the day of the country’s independence i.e. on August 15, 1947. A special feature of this tournament, which started from August 1, 2022, is that the participants Players less than 4 feet 9 inches tall Must be.

In this, only students of schools up to class 8th can participate. This year 12 teams are participating in this tournament, which are divided into 4 pools. Birla Vidya Mandir, GD JM Chorgalia and BSSV in Pool A, Saraswati Shiksha Mandir, Sanwal School and Woodbridge School in Pool B, Lakes International Bhimtal, St. Joseph and Naini School in Pool C, RSSV Nishant, Long View Public School in Pool D and Including Lex International.

History of this tournament is 75 years old

National Martyrs Sainik Memorial Vidyapeeth Mallital team coach Kundan Singh Suyal says that due to Corona, this tournament could not be organized for two years. However, this time the students are getting a chance to show their talent. Along with the physical development of children, playing also helps in mental development, due to which they stay ahead in a lot of fields.

Let us tell you that this tournament has been organized by CRST Old Boys Association. Lalit Tiwari, a member of this association, says that every year this competition is held from August 1 to August 15 and its final match is played on August 15. The first final of this competition took place on 15 August 1947. Which was played between CRST School and GIC. This year this tournament has been sponsored by Nainital Bank.
