Ravindra Jadeja was made the captain in his place.

New Delhi. There is still a long time in IPL 2023. But, even before that, it has become clear about Chennai Super Kings that who will be the captain of the team in the next season? Mahendra Singh Dhoni will captain CSK in IPL 2023. This has been confirmed by Kashi Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings franchise. CSK has won the IPL title 4 times under Dhoni’s captaincy. He will be 42 years old by next season. But, how important he is still for CSK, it can be understood from the decision to hand him the responsibility of captaincy in the next season as well.

CSK CEO Kashi Viswanathan said in a conversation with a TV channel, MS Dhoni will captain Chennai Super Kings in the IPL to be held next year i.e. in 2023. Dhoni’s fans will definitely be happy after this confirmation from the franchise. Earlier, in IPL-2022, when Dhoni was asked a question related to his retirement from IPL, he denied it outright. Dhoni then said that if I do not say goodbye after playing in front of the people of Chennai, then it will be wrong. I will be seen in the next season. Now the franchise has confirmed that statement of Dhoni by declaring him to hand over the captaincy.

Dhoni left the captaincy before IPL 2022
Dhoni, who captained Chennai Super Kings from the first season of IPL i.e. 2008, left the captaincy of this team 2 days before the start of the last season. Ravindra Jadeja captained in his place. But, the performance of CSK was very poor. The team led by Jadeja had lost 6 out of the first 8 matches. After this, in the middle of the season, Jadeja left the captaincy citing the reason for focusing on his game.

After this, Dhoni took over the command of the team for the remaining matches. However, the team finished 9th. Along with winning the IPL title 4 times under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK also won the Champions League title twice (2010 and 2014).

CSK eyeing a comeback
Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings would like to make a strong comeback in IPL 2023 after proving to be a letdown last year. However, the question still remains whether Ravindra Jadeja will be with the team in the next season or not. According to media reports, there has been a rift in the relationship between Jadeja and Chennai Super Kings. He has removed all the posts related to CSK from his social media accounts.
