Sachin Tendulkar to lead India Legends
Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Rahul Sharma also included in the league

Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar, popularly known as the legendary batsman and master-blaster, will lead the defending champions India Legends in the second season of the Road Safety World Series. In the first season too, Sachin Tendulkar led India Legends. Along with Sachin, other players like Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Rahul Sharma are also ready to participate in the league.

The organizers announced on Thursday that the tournament will be played at different venues for 22 days from September 10 to October 2. The first match of the tournament will be held in Kanpur while both the semi-finals and final will be played in Raipur. Two other venues where matches will be played include Indore and Dehradun. This time a total of eight teams including India Legends, Sri Lanka Legends, Australia Legends, Bangladesh Legends, West Indies Legends, South Africa Legends, England Legends and New Zealand Legends are participating.

The main objective of this league is to bring awareness about road safety in the country and around the world. This series is supported by the Ministry of Transport and Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Youth Welfare and Sports, Government of India. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said, “I am confident that the Road Safety World Series will play an important role in social change and will serve as an ideal platform to change the attitude of people towards road and road safety.”

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said, “The Road Safety World Series is a very good initiative to bring awareness about road safety through cricket. We want every person of the country to be aware and follow all the rules and guidelines related to the road. For this we have to create awareness among the people and I am sure that this series will play an important role in this.
