Bangalore. Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur recalled Jhulan Goswami’s contribution to cricket, saying that the veteran fast bowler’s passion for the game is unmatched. Harmanpreet said that no one can fill her place in the team. Jhulan, who has been the leader of Indian bowling for the last two decades, will say goodbye to international cricket on September 24, playing the third and final ODI against England at Lord’s. Jhulan currently holds the record for taking most wickets in international cricket.
Harmanpreet Kaur Talking to the media on the eve of the team’s departure for England tour, she said, ‘She goes into each match with the same kind of passion which is unmatched. Harmanpreet said, ‘She was the captain when I made my debut. This is a great opportunity for me that when she plays her last ODI, I will take over the captaincy. When I got a place in the team, she was the only player who used to lead from the front. I learned a lot from him. No one can take his place.
He said, ‘She is such a player who always puts in the same effort. She bowls for two-three hours. She still works hard like she used to do in her early days. Harmanpreet said, ‘You hardly see any bowler who works hard in the nets like him. No one has the kind of passion he has for cricket. I learned a lot from him as a cricketer and as a person. He is a great example for all of us. Many players in the country adopted this game after seeing him playing.

Jhulan participated in the ODI World Cup played in New Zealand in March this year but she got injured before India’s final group match against South Africa. Due to this, she could not even go on the Sri Lanka tour in July.
Jhulan, who made her international debut in 2002, retired from T20 in 2018. This fast bowler played his last Test match in October 2021. Jhulan has played 12 Tests, 68 T20 Internationals and 201 ODIs in total. He has participated in 6 World Cups.
The Indian women’s team, which won silver in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, will start the tour of England with a T20 match on 9 September. The Indian team will play the same series of one-day matches after playing three T20 matches. India will play ODIs at Hove (18 September) and Canterbury (21 September) before Jhulan’s last ODI at Lord’s.
Harmanpreet said that the team will try its best to make this occasion special for Jhulan. He said, ‘We are talking about that this is his last tournament. This is very special for them and for us. We will try our best to make it memorable for them.
